Sunset In Flores
Guatemala City at night
On Saturday we made it to Semuc Champey and stayed at a hostel called Las Marias till Monday. Semuc Champey is a natural spring at the base of a valley. The force of the spring has carved out a land bridge and a series of pools. If you google it you'll see it, it's beautiful. During our stay we also took a candle lit tour of some nearby caves. Our tour was lead by Rojo, a fearless 4' 5" local teenager. His extreme case of the giggles would brandish his gold teeth and comfort our restless souls.
We are back in Guatemala City (Smog Kingdom) but we'll leave for Antigua today. We'll probably spend a couple days there and hopefully get around to hiking the volcano Pacaya. After Antigua we'll head to Lake Atitlan and begin Spanish school, we are all looking forward to it. A strict regiment of Spanish and avacados near the lake will be benificial. By then it will have been almost two weeks since we left our comfortable lives in Oregon. Familiarity is distant, we are now in control of our direction instead of letting our jobs and distractions tug us along.
A spelling error from our last blog: Tical is actually Tikal. We apologize, we were in a hurry.

Great pictures!! All your personalities come out clearly in the ones you have posted and I love that. I especially loved the self-portrait of the three of you -- it's just so comforting to see that joy and craziness in your expressions.
The picture of you and Clinton on the wall is wonderful -- good shot, Ari!!
It was good to hear your voice yesterday, Mitch, and to hear Clinton and Ari in the background.
It's just a normal Wednesday here for us -- working away and enjoying life albeit in a truly different way :o)
I love your posts -- keep 'em coming!
Love you,
Mama Cass
You three kids are simply magical. In fact, you should open up a stand in Guatemala and call it "Magic of the Americans." You could do card tricks for the locals, and scam them out of the little money they have. Brilliant.
I love the pictures guys. Really makes me wish I could be down there with y'all. Keep them coming. It's been awesome so far to be able to keep up with your adventure over the la estados unidos. Rojo sounds cute. I hope you cut off a lock of his hair as a keepsake.
Have an awesome time in Antigua guys and I look forward to reading the next update.
Kisses,
Andrew.
P.S. Don't ever misspell a word again.
